GlobeWebBrain.pngThe new WebBrain hosting service is now in beta. It lets you easily publish Brains online in just a few steps. You don’t need a Web server, all you need is your Brain. Just use the File > Create BrainZip command and then upload the file at http://webbrain.com. Once published, your Brain can be viewed from just about anywhere. It’s currently still in beta, but there are a lot of features in place already.

To put your Brain online:

  • Sign up for an account at http://webbrain.com/signup
  • Create a BrainZip from PersonalBrain 5
  • Click the “Upload” button and submit your Brain
  • Your Brain will appear on your “My Account” page within a few minutes
  • When you want to update your Brain, just upload it again

Some of the more advanced features of WebBrain include:

  • Access your Brain online – including Thoughts, notes, and attachments
  • Use all the same views you’re used to in PersonalBrain
  • Search using instant activate
  • Colors, wallpaper and even zoomable Thought icons included
  • Send links to specific Thoughts in Brains using the Share button
  • View Brains from your iPhone or iPod Touch
  • View Brain usage on the My Account page
  • Use a Brain as your web site navigation (more on this in a future blog post)
  • Published Brains are indexed by search engines such as Google
  • Make your Brain private to prevent unauthorized access

Got a blog or web site? You can embed your Brain into any web page, just like embedding a video from YouTube… Here is an example of an Embedded Brain:

To embed a Brain, just open it and click the Share button in the upper right corner. Now simply copy and paste the embedding code into your web page and you’re good to go. You can edit the size precisely by modifying the code in a text editor or select “Customize embedded Brain” to adjust the size and many other options from the Share dialog box.

We’ve only just started with the ability to easily share Brains online. Right now, publishing Brains online is free with no limitations. In the future, we’ll have a free basic service and a subscription based service for those who need more advanced features like security or very large brains.

Enjoy. We’re looking forward to seeing your Brains!

Thank you for posting. Only YOU can see your private Brains when you sync to http://www.webbrain.com. Public Brains can be seen by anyone and Unlisted Brains can be seen by only those you share the URL with. To change a Brain’s Visibility settings, click the small drop down arrow next to the Brain Name when you are logged in and select Public, Unlisted or Private.

    Thank you,
    Matt
